Antique Appraisal Event
Have you ever wondered what your family heirlooms are worth? Join us for a thirty-minute appraising presentation followed by an appraisal of at least one item per participant. You'll be assigned a 10-minute time slot in the order you registered to have your item appraised. Once everyone has had their item valued, Certified Appraiser David Schlueter will examine additional items as time allows. Examples of items that can be appraised are antiques, fine jewelry, costume jewelry, precious gemstones, all art, and coins. This is for items you can easily carry. Please refrain from bringing firearms or Beanie Babies. Please name the one item you would like appraised on the registration form, and email photos of the item if you can, to estarke@shakopee.k12.mn.us at least one week prior to the event. Coffee and treats will be provided.
Mike Lynch's Minnesota Star Watch Party
Join former WCCO meteorologist Mike Lynch to watch the great celestial show over Shakopee! He will have giant telescopes aimed at Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, star clusters, galaxies, and more! Live video telescopes will also be available. Get to know constellations like The Big Bear, Cygnus the Swan, Pegasus the Winged Horse, and many others. Great constellation mythological stories will also be shared. This activity is great for all ages, and kids must be accompanied by an adult. Feel free to bring a lawn chair and blanket to make yourself comfy and enjoy the show!

Math by Mail: Grades 6-9
Early Summer Offerings
Math-by-Mail is expanding its options to learn math! How exciting! We will continue to offer our predetermined set of eight packets, but we are adding an ala carte menu! Our ala carte approach will allow for individual choices regarding the skills and concepts students and parents can request to build math confidence, and it is still an eight-week course with a self paced approach! As students finish packets, they are mailed back for feedback and then returned to the students. As always the goal of Math-by-Mail is to provide rich content to maintain mathematical understanding! All packets are due back by August 9 in order to provide timely feedback before the 2024-2025 school year begins. Please reach out at any time if you have questions. Registration ends on June 30.
Summer 2024
Math-by Mail: Grades 2-5
Early Summer Offerings
Keep your math skills sharp over the summer! This "pen pal-like" program provides students the opportunity to practice previously learned math concepts and to build confidence. Students will take a pre-test and fill out a questionnaire to individualize their program. Students will then receive nine weeks of lessons. Each week's packet will include five math lessons with problem-solving activities. The activities will apply to a specific math concept. After the student has completed a packet, they will mail it in. We will make corrections, provide feedback, and mail it back. Students may start and finish the course at their own pace. When all lessons are completed, students will receive a certificate of achievement and a restaurant meal coupon. Please register for this summer program by June 30.
