PROGRAM UPDATE: As of July 1, 2024, there is no longer a requirement for participants to take an 8-hour class. First-time participants can take the 4-hour class and repeat every three years to qualify for the discount. The Driver Discount Program is a state-approved accident prevention/insurance discount class that is open to the public. Pre-registration is required. A Precision Driving Center of Minnesota certified instructor teaches this class. Participants will be provided the latest information regarding driver and traffic safety, new vehicle technology, and updates on traffic laws. This class has something for everyone! Participants ages 55 and older who complete the course qualify for up to a 10% discount on their auto insurance premiums for three years and must take a four-hour refresher class every three years to maintain the discount.

Students Green Belt and above will learn intermediate-advanced techniques. This class is for students awarded rank by KKC Tae Kwon Do. Rank awarded at another school should join Beginner Class for assessment. Meets six times.

Using an Air Fryer to cook vegetables is quick, healthy, and delicious! In this live online class, the instructor will demonstrate a variety of recipes using in-season local and/or commonly available vegetables including lemon pepper broccoli, miso sesame kale chips, and roasted sweet potatoes. Participants will receive an extensive handout along with the link to join prior to class. There will be ample time for questions during the session, and participants will receive a link to the recording afterwards so you can cook along at your convenience. This class will take place live online via Zoom, in partnership with other districts in the metro area. You will receive a Zoom link via email prior to the class date. Alcohol inks are a vibrant and fluid art medium that produce stunning dynamic effects. In this class, you'll discover how to harness their distinctive properties as we guide you through the process of creating a beautiful, stylized sunflower on YUPO paper. All experience levels are welcome and all supplies are included in the class fee.

Fall down the rabbit hole with Storybook Theatre’s Alice in Wonderland! Join Alice as she journeys through the whimsical world of Wonderland, where she must attend the Queen of Hearts’ Unbirthday Party to keep her head. Along the way, she encounters peculiar characters like the synchronized Birds, opinionated Flowers, the Cheshire Cat, the Pig Baby, and the hilariously eccentric Mad Tea Party guests. As Alice reaches the Queen’s grand celebration, the Jack of Hearts is accused of theft, and Alice must win the Queen’s favor in a thrilling game of croquet to save the day. Packed with humor, heart and unforgettable moments, this family-friendly production brings the magic of Wonderland to life. All students participate on stage in this play. Auditions are on Monday, and will last two hours. Roles will be announced at the end of the audition and everyone will stay afterward for rehearsal. Rehearsal schedule for the week is generally 8:30am-12:45pm, but might vary based on role. An exact schedule will be distributed on Monday. Please be sure to send a snack and water bottle with your student every day! Public performances will be held on Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 11am at Shakopee West Middle School (Carl A. Olson Auditorium). Tickets are $5/person. There will be a private performance for YMCA childcare on Friday at 1pm.

Explore the craft of voiceovers! Discover current trends, opportunities, and tools you need to find success in this growing remote working industry. This class is a one-time, 90-minute, one-on-one, video chat class. Read a real script and receive coaching from your instructor, a professional voice actor, to improve your delivery. Upon registration, you will be contacted by Voices for All LLC to schedule your class on a day and time of your convenience.

In this camp, we will have fun combining various art materials with principles of science to investigate how the worlds of art and science intersect. We will experiment with tinfoil, shaving cream, glow-in-the-dark paint, chalk, glue, salt and watercolors to make interesting and colorful creations. We will also make cupcakes on canvas with puffy shaving cream frosting, make art that glows, try our hand at foil embossing and more in this camp of art experiments. Meets four times.

Learn about a new medium and explore art history by studying different artists and their work. Create wonderful artwork while being inspired by Edvard Munch's The Scream, Pablo Picasso's Woman in Hat, Vincent Van Gogh's Chair, Wassily Kandinsky's Bavarian Market Square, and Claude Monet's Regatta at Argenteuil. The daily results will be truly frame-able! Meets four times.

Battle Drones features an exciting combination of aerial acrobatics with an engineering design challenge that will teach students STEM concepts, teamwork and how to skillfully fly a drone. In Battle Drones, teams of students will build robotic launchers designed to fling projectiles at their opponents' drones. Students will be guided by experienced instructors in how to construct their launchers to maximize projectile speed and accuracy. The camp will culminate in an epic battle where students will need to pilot their drones to safety by dodging opponent projectiles while using their own launchers to take down opponent drones. The best drone pilots and launchers will emerge victorious! Meets three times. Please not this camp only meets M-W.

Kickstart your Spanish journey with this engaging summer course, perfect for beginners! Designed for those with little to no experience, you'll learn essential vocabulary, basic grammar and practical phrases for everyday conversations. Through group discussions and breakout conversation practices, you'll build confidence in speaking and understanding Spanish. Our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way, setting you up for continued success. By the end of the course, you’ll have the foundational skills to keep learning and speaking with confidence.

Learn all about birds and birding through a variety of games and activities. Depending on the weather, the activities may include: the physics of flight, bird beak adaptation game, cats and caverns role-playing game, bird blind camouflage, and more! Students will benefit from learning how birds connect to different STEAM topics and the world around them. Students will be able to take home some of their creations.

Join us for this fun hands-on class that will teach you the basic concepts of miniature gardening. Participants will plant their own fairy or dinosaur garden and make miniature decorations to add a little creative magic to their finished product.

Camp Invention’s new program, Discover, is an inspiring, week-long summer experience that provides opportunities for open-ended, hands-on exploration of science, technology, engineering and more! Campers take on a variety of exhilarating activities each day, have fun collaborating with friends, think creatively and invent their own solutions to real-world challenges. The all-new 2025 program will spark the imagination of both new and returning campers with an adventure full of inspiration, innovation and unforgettable discoveries! During this action-packed, confidence-boosting program, young innovators will: Use physics and engineering in Claw Arcade to make a DIY claw machine and explore entrepreneurship principles as they hook investors on their arcade experiences. Be introduced to optical illusions and create their own spinning animation device in Illusion Workshop and become special effects experts. Discover how Artificial Intelligence is imbedded in everyday road trip items like GPS and rise to the challenge to create their own Control Panel to send secret morse code messages in In Control. Embark on an eco-expedition with Snow-ver in Penguin Launch. Snow-ver is a robotic research penguin that campers will use to investigate penguin habitats while creating flippers and launchers to propel their own plush magnetic penguins across the South Pole.
