Minnesota Permit Test-May 2024

We are pleased to offer the Minnesota State required permit test. Students must be 15 years of age and have completed the in classroom instruction before taking the permit test. Students will have 30 minutes to complete the test in the given allowed time. The permit test is proctored by a certified instructor who will let the students know if they have passed or failed.


The following items are required for students to bring with them on the day of the test:

  • Birth Certificate or Passport
  • Social Security Card
  • Blue or White Card
  • Shakopee Schools issued laptop
  • If you do not have a Shakopee Schools laptop, please let us know and we can provide you a laptop for the test.

Once your student has passed the permit test they will need to go to the DMV with the following items in order to receive their permit:

  • Birth Certificate or Passport
  • Social Security Card
  • Blue or White Card- if you need a replacement card it is a $10 fee.
  • Verification Ticket (states they passed the permit test)
  • Parent/Guardian
  • Permit fee
  • All fees are non-refundable
