Antique Appraisal Event
Have you ever wondered what your family heirlooms are worth? Join us for a thirty-minute appraising presentation followed by an appraisal of at least one item per participant. You'll be assigned a 10-minute time slot in the order you registered to have your item appraised. Once everyone has had their item valued, Certified Appraiser David Schlueter will examine additional items as time allows. Examples of items that can be appraised are antiques, fine jewelry, costume jewelry, precious gemstones, all art, and coins. This is for items you can easily carry. Please refrain from bringing firearms or Beanie Babies. Please name the one item you would like appraised on the registration form, and email photos of the item if you can, to estarke@shakopee.k12.mn.us at least one week prior to the event. Coffee and treats will be provided.
Mike Lynch's Minnesota Star Watch Party
Join former WCCO meteorologist Mike Lynch to watch the great celestial show over Shakopee! He will have giant telescopes aimed at Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, star clusters, galaxies, and more! Live video telescopes will also be available. Get to know constellations like The Big Bear, Cygnus the Swan, Pegasus the Winged Horse, and many others. Great constellation mythological stories will also be shared. This activity is great for all ages, and kids must be accompanied by an adult. Feel free to bring a lawn chair and blanket to make yourself comfy and enjoy the show!

Goldilocks & The Three Bears
Aug 5-9
Order! Order in the courtroom! Today we will be hearing the case of the Bear Family against one Goldilocks. But the question is ... will it be a fair trial? Goldilocks is so cute, and so charming ... and doesn’t she know it?! However, when the Bear Family accuses her of breaking and entering, robbing them of their favorite meal and property damage, it looks like Goldi might be in over her head. The only problem for the Bear Family is that everyone loves Goldi! Will they be able to convince a jury of their peers that she isn’t as sweet and innocent as she seems? Join us in this thrilling whodunnit to figure out who exactly broke into the Bear Family’s home, ate their porridge, sat in their chairs, and slept in their beds! Both sides will have to remember their days exactly as they happened to prove that they are right. In the end, will Goldi be found guilty or will the Bear Family’s case against her be dismissed? All students participate on stage in this play. Auditions are on Monday, and will last two hours. Roles will be announced at the end of the audition and everyone will stay afterward for rehearsal. Rehearsal schedule for the week is generally 8:30am-12:45pm, but might vary based on role. An exact schedule will be distributed on Monday. Please be sure to send a snack and water bottle with your student every day! Public performances will be held on Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 11am at Shakopee West Middle School (Carl A. Olson Auditorium). Tickets are $5/person. There will be a private performance for YMCA childcare on Friday at 1pm.
