  • Antique Appraisal Event

Have you ever wondered what your family heirlooms are worth? Join us for a thirty-minute appraising presentation followed by an appraisal of at least one item per participant. You'll be assigned a 10-minute time slot in the order you registered to have your item appraised. Once everyone has had their item valued, certified appraiser David Schlueter will examine additional items as time allows. Examples of items that can be appraised are antiques, fine jewelry, costume jewelry, precious gemstones, all art, and coins. This class is for items you can easily carry. Please refrain from bringing firearms or Beanie Babies. Please name the one item you would like appraised on the registration form, and email photos of the item to estarke@shakopee.k12.mn.us at least one week prior to the event. Coffee and treats will be provided.

  • Karen's Mystery Quilting Adventure

If you like quilting but hate to drag your machine to class, this is the class for you! This will be a mystery quilt, so you won’t know what the final project will look like until the last stitch has been made. You will receive weekly clues via email or U.S. mail, and by the end of nine weeks (sometimes a little longer) you will have a completed quilt or quilt top. Your contact information will be shared with your instructor so she can share the clues with you, and will not be used for any other purpose. Your first clue will contain a supply list to help you collect all items needed to make your quilt in the colors of your choosing. At the end of class, you will receive a copy of the full pattern. All skill levels are welcome, but you will need to know how to follow a pattern to participate. Your instructor will provide you with her email address and phone number so you can ask questions along the way. We will end this class with an optional show-and-tell in Montgomery, MN. The date for this event will be announced toward the end of class. You will receive your first clue the week of January 22, and a weekly clue thereafter through the week of March 25. Please note that you may receive your clues at any point during the week, and not necessarily on the first day of the week.
