Why do we need government? What should it do, and why is it organized the way it is? This engaging, 6-session class explores the philosophical ideas and historical context behind the founding documents of the United States: the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Constitution. You'll examine the intentions of the founders, what these documents set out to achieve, and how effectively they have served the nation over time. Led by educator and historian Frank Sachs, this class offers thoughtful discussion and deeper understanding of how American government came to be—and why it functions the way it does today.
