PROGRAM UPDATE: As of July 1, 2024, there is no longer a requirement for participants to take an 8-hour class. First-time participants can take the 4-hour class and repeat every three years to qualify for the discount.
The hallmark of any spring or summer celebration is, undoubtedly, the dessert. Whether you are looking for something memorable to create for Mother's Day, Father's Day, or beyond, we've got you covered! This class will guide you through the process of creating three exceptional confectionary creations: a classic French fruit tart, a Greek phyllo pastry tart called Bougatsa, and cakesicles! Participants will receive a list of ingredients needed in advance, ensuring you'll have enough time to go shopping before class. You'll also receive a PDF packet of the recipes after class. Cooking along is optional but highly recommended. Participants from the same household may participate together, and children need to be assisted by an adult. This class will take place on Zoom and will include participants from across the metro area. Equipment needed includes a cakesicle silicone mold and popsicle sticks. These items are available at most craft stores, and sticks are often included in the kit. You'll also need a tart pan with a removeable bottom.
Tess Georgakopoulos has been cooking for well over 40 years since she was roughly six years old. Born into a Greek family, the art of cooking traditional meals using one's senses rather than recipes and measurements was passed on from one generation to the next. Her father was also a trained chef who brought the magic of food to life in another form on the weekends as they cooked elaborate family meals together. Food prepared from the heart, with one's own hands and creativity, was and continues to be an expression of love in her home.
