As the growing season reaches its peak, it's the perfect time to dive into the essentials of home food preservation. Homemade jams, zesty salsas, crisp beans and tangy fermented cabbage can bring the vibrant flavors of summer to your table all winter long. Preserving food at home offers a wealth of benefits, including lower grocery bills, a more sustainable lifestyle and the ability to control the quality and nutrition of the food you eat. Once you master the basics, preserving fresh produce becomes surprisingly simple. This class will guide you through the essential tools and equipment, food safety practices and tips for selecting the best produce and ingredients to preserve. We’ll also explore dehydration and freezing techniques, ensuring you're equipped to savor the harvest all year round. All experience levels are welcome and all supplies are included in the class fee. Each participant will take home a jar of jelly or jam.
