The yellow brick road winds its way through Shakopee this summer with RVTC's production of The Wizard of Oz! Follow Dorothy (and Toto, too!) on her journey over the rainbow into the wonderful Land of Oz! The young girl from Kansas must travel with her new friends through Oz to get to the Emerald City, hoping that upon arrival the Wizard will grant them their wishes. This delightful stage adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s beloved tale, featuring the iconic musical score from the MGM film, tells the story of self-sufficiency, friendship and belonging.
Auditions will be held May 21-23 at Shakopee High School. If necessary, callbacks will be held on May 24. Please prepare a monologue and vocal selection to perform at auditions. All participants need to register through Shakopee Community Education. Students (ages 10+) who register are guaranteed a role in the show. Individuals who are 16 and older may audition for a principal role (registration required). Those who do not receive a principal role will be offered a spot in the ensemble.
Parents of participants ages 10-15, please plan to attend a mandatory parent meeting on June 5 at 6pm in the Saber Community Room at Shakopee High School. Parents of participants ages 16-18 are welcome to attend, as well.
Of course, the show can’t go on without volunteers! More information will be shared during rehearsals.
