Antique Appraisal Event
Have you ever wondered what your family heirlooms are worth? Join us for a thirty-minute appraising presentation followed by an appraisal of at least one item per participant. You'll be assigned a 10-minute time slot in the order you registered to have your item appraised. Once everyone has had their item valued, Certified Appraiser David Schlueter will examine additional items as time allows. Examples of items that can be appraised are antiques, fine jewelry, costume jewelry, precious gemstones, all art, and coins. This is for items you can easily carry. Please refrain from bringing firearms or Beanie Babies. Please name the one item you would like appraised on the registration form, and email photos of the item if you can, to estarke@shakopee.k12.mn.us at least one week prior to the event. Coffee and treats will be provided.
Mike Lynch's Minnesota Star Watch Party
Join former WCCO meteorologist Mike Lynch to watch the great celestial show over Shakopee! He will have giant telescopes aimed at Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, star clusters, galaxies, and more! Live video telescopes will also be available. Get to know constellations like The Big Bear, Cygnus the Swan, Pegasus the Winged Horse, and many others. Great constellation mythological stories will also be shared. This activity is great for all ages, and kids must be accompanied by an adult. Feel free to bring a lawn chair and blanket to make yourself comfy and enjoy the show!

Point of Impact-May 2024
Point of Impact
Parents & Students are Invited to Attend a 2023-24 Point of Impact Meeting The more you know about teen driver risks, laws, and helpful ways to talk to your teen, the more you can help your student become a safe driver. Parents and students are invited and encouraged to attend a 90-minute class to learn how to improve your own driving instruction and help your teen to become a better driver. Find out about the new rules for first-time drivers. We will provide you with information and tools you can use to help support your teen in driving safely. New drivers have to log 50 hours or driving while they have their permit. Find out how to do this and reduce the required amount by 10 hours by attending a Shakopee Community Education Point of Impact (POI) meeting. Parents/guardians are encouraged to provide as many additional hours with their teens as possible to prepare them to become a safe driver. The driving log must be presented at the time of the road test and submitted with the application for the provisional license. We look forward to seeing you at the class, and working together to make your teen as well-trained and safe as possible behind the wheel. Point of Impact Meetings are held free of charge.
